Group buying: cycling glasses
Since the kit will be delivered in 2-3 months time. I would like to poll for anyone interested in group buying cycling glasses. With enough participants I am sure we can have a bespoke design.
I think oakley might be an interesting brand, they allow personalizing and engraving. Having glasses in a colorscheme to match the kit could also be a nice idea. Please see the link for an examle that I quickly compiled, again it is an example only.
Please confirm and inform me in this topic about quantity/brands/models you would like.

Martin
Now I have seen Morten's glasses in the flesh I want a pair for sure. It wasnt too clear from the mock up, so perhaps more may come on-board if Morten can post a good picture of his specs and colourway match for the awaited kit?

group buying cycling glasses.
Hi
As requested some pics.
I bought my in Denmark since it would take a long time if ordered in the Oakley shop in Dubai. Back home it took 5 days from i sent the order till they were in the shop...
The Ice Iridium polarized ( the blue option to match our kit) lens is an index 3 lens. That is the 2nd highest protection Oakley provides "for strong sun brightness".
The R50 is on the other hand index 1 but read the review below.
"If you're planning an all-day venture and will see everything from foggy mornings to sunlit afternoons, glasses with Transitions' SOLFX photochromic lenses, found on select Oakley Jawbones, are the best choice. The VR50 Transition lenses shift from nearly clear (blocking just 10 percent of available light) to 50 percent blockage in mere seconds, while heightening the contrast needed to see roots and rocks. But no matter what the tint, the lenses block 100 percent of harmful UV rays. "
My order looked like this:
Frame color: Matte Black
Lens 1 color: Ice Iridium polarized
Lens 1 text etching: RAHA REVOLUTION (scriptana)
Lens 2 color: R50 Photochromic VENTED.
Jaw: Team light blue
Thru bolt: Matte Black
Icons: Team white
Ear: Socks White
Now we just need the kit and get in a decent form...;-)

Re: Group buying: cycling glasses
Hi Martin,
I created a mock-up design of the Jawbone (per Viking's specs) on the Oakley website and it priced out at $400 (without engraving). Do you know what the volume discount would be?

If you're putting in an order then i'm definitely in for some spares...
Jaw: Team light blue
Ear Socks: Team light blue
... but i don't think thats quite the "bulk order" they'll be looking for!

Re: Group buying: cycling glasses
Hello Again...
Just got news from Denmark..
The SKI shop I bought my glasses from are offering 15% discount on the glasses... And then the 20% vat
So if anyone are going for the same set up as me it would look like this:
Jawbone as on the pics above. Price 2033 AED -15% discount and 1728 -20% VAT a set of Raha REV costume made glasses would be 1382 AED.
If there is anybody who is interested in other frames go too www.oakley.com/custom and have a look if there is anything you like. Split jacket, M-frame and Radar are some models used for cycling. The Jaw bone is great..!;-)
I have sent a mail regarding spare parts as well..
Let me know if and what you want.
