Hi all,
Just bought a trainer but found out it will wear my tires... so now I need a training wheel.

Any of you have an old, heavy or not more in use wheel + cassette and is willing to sell it?

Thanks!

Runsick,

Preferably a separate wheel with special turbo trainer tyre would be best. However, I always used abandonned old street tyres to be used on the trainer. Just for the matter of saving money and squizing out everything from old tyres.

Do not forget that using tyres on the street also wears them. Personally I have never been able to find any evidence for determining whether tyres on trainer wear faster/slower compaired with street usage.

What trainer did you buy? Make and type please?

Goodluck!

Hi,
I bought Giant Cyclotron Auto II trainer for the lovely Abu Dhabi summer to use during the week.

http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-us/partsaccessories/product/cyclotron.auto.ii.trainer/1293/30767/

I´m planning to buy a training tire but in order to not to have to change tire each time I thought it would be better to have a separate wheel (old used one) with the training tire so I could just switch them.

Any further advice is more than welcome!

buy a spare rear and cassette - but yes - do put a trainer tyre on it - they tend to run very hot and the TACX tyres are a harder compound - there are urban myths about normal tyres exploding due to heat build up - which would put other than a smile on your face
